Understanding the Products

What is the difference between an acoustic office pod and a traditional meeting room?

A traditional meeting room is built into the building, expensive to create and impossible to move. An acoustic pod is freestanding, installed in hours and requires no construction work or permits. It delivers comparable privacy and acoustic performance at a fraction of the cost and can be relocated if your needs change. For businesses in rented or flexible spaces, it's the smarter option.

What is the difference between soundproofing and sound absorption and which do I need?

Sound absorption reduces echo and reverberation within a room, making it calmer and clearer. Soundproofing prevents sound from travelling between spaces entirely. Acoustic panels handle the former; pods and structural solutions handle the latter. Most open-plan offices benefit from both: panels to improve the general acoustic quality of the space and a pod for situations where genuine privacy is needed.

What does dB (decibel) reduction actually mean and how much do I need for my office?

Decibels measure sound level on a logarithmic scale, so a 10 dB reduction roughly halves perceived loudness. For most office use, 30 to 35 dB is the sweet spot, enough for private calls and confidential conversations without hearing what's happening outside. Below 25 dB and outside noise remains noticeable. Above 40 dB is typically reserved for recording or specialist environments.

What is ISO 23351-1:2020 and why does it matter when choosing an acoustic pod?

ISO 23351-1:2020 is the internationally recognised standard for testing acoustic pod performance. It ensures results are independently verified and comparable across different manufacturers, rather than based on unqualified marketing claims. Before purchasing any pod, always ask for ISO test data. If a supplier can't provide it, that tells you something important about the product.

What is an acoustic phone booth and who is it designed for?

An acoustic phone booth is a compact single-person pod for calls, video meetings or focused work. It's popular with open-plan workers, hybrid employees, sales teams and anyone who needs regular privacy without booking a meeting room. Most come fitted with ventilation, lighting and charging as standard, making them a practical workspace rather than just somewhere to duck into for a quick call.

Do acoustic panels actually block sound from entering a room, or just reduce echo inside it?

Acoustic panels reduce echo and reverberation within a space. They don't stop outside noise coming in. Hard surfaces cause sound to bounce around a room; panels absorb those reflections before they build up, making the space noticeably quieter and easier to communicate in. For blocking external noise, you need a soundproofing solution. For improving sound quality within a room, panels are exactly the right tool.

Choosing the Right Product

How do I know whether I need a 1-person, 2-person, or 4-person pod?

Think about how the space will actually be used. A 1-person booth suits calls and focused work. A 2-person pod works well for interviews, appraisals and one-to-ones. A 4-person pod starts to replace the traditional meeting room for small team sessions and client calls. Most offices benefit from a mix of sizes rather than committing to one. We're happy to help work out the right balance.

What's the difference between a phone booth pod and a meeting pod?

A phone booth is compact and designed for one person: calls, video meetings and focused work. A meeting pod is larger, seats two or more people and is built for collaboration over longer sessions. Getting the balance between the two right matters. An office with plenty of meeting rooms but no quiet solo spaces will still feel noisy and chaotic for individuals working independently.

Which acoustic pod is best for video conferencing and Zoom calls?

Any of our pods work well for video calls, but lighting, ventilation and acoustic treatment inside the pod all make a difference. Good integrated lighting improves how you appear on screen. Proper ventilation keeps the space comfortable during longer calls. A well-treated interior produces cleaner audio without additional equipment. If video conferencing is the primary use, speak to us and we can point you towards the most suitable models.

Can acoustic office pods be used for sensitive or confidential HR conversations?

Yes and it's one of the most common reasons businesses invest in them. Appraisals, legal conversations and wellbeing catch-ups all require privacy that an open-plan office can't provide. A well-rated pod gives you a discreet, comfortable space without the awkwardness of a glass-walled meeting room in full view of colleagues. We can also arrange frosted glass on request for added discretion.

Specifications & Performance

What floor space does an office pod require and what ceiling height is needed?

All of our Omni booths require a ceiling clearance of at least 2.3 metres to accommodate the ventilation unit on top. Floor space varies depending on the model and full dimensions are listed on each individual product page. If you have a space you'd like to talk through, feel free to get in touch.

How much sound reduction can I realistically expect from an acoustic office pod?

Most quality pods deliver 30 to 35 dB of reduction, which means conversation outside becomes barely audible inside. It's not a completely silent chamber, but it provides genuine privacy for calls, meetings and confidential conversations. For environments needing higher isolation, such as recording or medical use, speak to us about configurations that can achieve greater performance.

What fire safety ratings do your acoustic panels and pods meet?

Our acoustic panels are manufactured to Class O under BS 476 Part 6, with fabric facings rated to Class 1 under BS 476 Part 7. Class O fabric is available on request. Full fire safety documentation is available for any project that requires it, whether for a building manager, landlord or compliance submission.

Are your products compliant with UK and EU building regulations?

As freestanding structures, pods fall outside the scope of most building regulations and planning requirements. Some landlords or managed buildings have their own rules, so it's always worth checking before installation. If you need specification sheets or test data for a facilities team or building manager, we can provide these on request.

What ventilation systems are included and how loud are the fans?

All pods come with integrated ventilation as standard. The fans are engineered to run quietly without affecting acoustic performance, producing a gentle background hum that most people find quite comfortable. For anyone planning extended working sessions inside a pod rather than shorter calls, let us know and we can confirm the ventilation spec suits that level of use.

Do the pods require a power supply and what electrical connections are needed?

Yes, pods require a standard mains connection to power the ventilation, lighting and in-pod charging. In most cases it's a straightforward plug-in rather than a hardwired installation, so no electrician is needed. If the nearest socket is some distance away, it's worth planning cable routing in advance, particularly if your facilities team needs to approve it.

Customisation & Design

Can I customise the colour and finish of a pod to match my office branding?

Yes. Our pods are available in a range of colours with two finish options: powder coated for a clean, contemporary look, or upholstered for a softer, warmer feel. Both options are designed to sit comfortably within a modern office environment and with a range of colours available it's straightforward to find something that fits your existing scheme. If you're unsure which direction to go, our team is happy to help.

What furniture options are available inside the pods?

Each pod comes with furniture options suited to its size and intended use. Smaller booths include seating and desk configurations for individual work, while larger pods can be fitted with meeting sofas, monitor stands and table arrangements for collaborative sessions. The idea is that the pod functions as a proper workspace from day one rather than an empty shell. We can walk you through the available configurations for whichever model you're considering

Are pods available with glass panels or open sides for a less enclosed feel?

Most of our pods include glazed panels on both sides as standard, which keeps the space feeling open and connected to the wider office while still providing acoustic privacy. The exception is our sleep pod, which features an opaque rear panel for added discretion. If you have specific requirements around glazing or privacy, speak to the team and we can point you in the right direction.

Installation & Setup

Do I need planning permission or building permits to install an office pod?

No. Our pods are freestanding structures, which means they fall outside the scope of planning permission and building regulations in the vast majority of cases. Some landlords or managed buildings have their own requirements, so it's always worth a quick check before installation. If your building manager needs documentation, we can provide full specification sheets and test data on request.

How long does it take to install an acoustic office pod?

Delivery and installation are typically completed within 2 to 4 weeks from order. On-site assembly usually takes between 30-60 minutes (after unpacking) per pod, depending on the size you’ve picked and our team handles everything as part of the standard purchase, so there's nothing for you to organise separately. We cover the whole of the UK and Europe.

Can pods be installed without a professional, or is assembly support included?

Our pods are designed to be assembled without specialist knowledge and come with clear instructions to guide you through the process. If you'd prefer to have everything handled for you, we do offer a professional installation service for an additional fee. It's a popular option for larger orders or businesses that simply want the pod ready to use without any involvement on their end. Get in touch to add it to your order.

Can office pods be moved or relocated after installation?

Yes. One of the key advantages of a freestanding pod over a built meeting room is that it isn't permanent. Pods can be moved within your office as your layout evolves and if you relocate entirely, the pod comes with you. Our Customer Service team will be more than happy to assist you in the relocation of our pods and booths.

Sustainability & Materials

What materials are used in the construction of your acoustic pods?

Our pods are built around an aluminium frame with aluminium corner panels, toughened, recyclable glass and plastic polymer components manufactured from recycled plastics. Interior acoustic surfaces use PET board made from recycled plastic bottles. It's a considered combination of materials chosen for durability, performance and environmental impact, rather than just cost.

Are your products made from recycled or sustainable materials?

Yes, sustainability runs through the entire product. The frame and corner panels are 100% recyclable aluminium, the glass is fully recyclable and the plastic polymer components are both made from recycled plastics and recyclable at end of life. The interior PET acoustic board is made from recycled plastic bottles and our packaging achieves a 95% recyclability rate. We were among the first in the industry to take this approach seriously.

What is the carbon footprint of an acoustic pod compared to building a traditional meeting room?

Building a traditional meeting room involves significant construction, materials and waste with no meaningful end-of-life recyclability. Our pods are engineered with a measurably low environmental impact: each booth carries a carbon footprint of 0.071kg CO2e, an energy consumption average of 0.4MJ, an air acidification level of 0.0001kg SO2e and a water eutrophication figure of 0.00002PO4. For businesses with sustainability targets or ESG commitments, that's a meaningful difference.

Are the materials inside the pods safe, free from harmful chemicals or off-gassing?

Yes. All materials used throughout our pods are selected with occupant wellbeing in mind as well as environmental responsibility. The use of recycled plastics and PET board rather than virgin synthetic materials means a cleaner, lower-emission product. If you need full material specifications for a building or fit-out assessment, we can provide those on request

Maintenance & Longevity

How do I clean and maintain an acoustic office pod?

For powder-coated exterior surfaces, a soft, damp cloth with a mild non-abrasive cleaner is all that's needed. Upholstered exteriors, finished in 100% polyester melange yarn, can be spot cleaned with a damp cloth and should be treated with care to avoid saturating the fabric. Internally, the PET board panels are straightforward to wipe down. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials on any surface, as these can cause permanent damage to both finishes.

What warranty do your products come with?

We offer a 5-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship on all principal parts (structural frame and panels) of the Omni range. Electrical components are covered by a 2-year warranty. This limited warranty is subject to the terms and conditions stated below.. If you have questions about what's covered or need to make a warranty claim, our customer service team is the best first point of contact and will get things resolved as straightforwardly as possible.

What happens if our pod or component gets damaged? Can parts be replaced individually?

Yes. Individual components can be ordered through our customer service team without needing to replace the entire pod system. It keeps costs down and avoids unnecessary waste, which fits with the way the products are designed more broadly. Get in touch with our team, let them know what's needed and they'll sort out the right replacement parts for you.

Service & Process

Can I visit a showroom to see the pods in person before buying?

Yes and we'd encourage it. Seeing and hearing the difference a quality acoustic pod makes is far more convincing than any specification sheet. Our showroom is at 102–108 Clerkenwell Road, London EC1M 5SA. You can drop in or get in touch to arrange a visit at a time that suits you, including a guided tour of the range with one of the team on hand to answer questions.

Do you offer a site survey or acoustic assessment before recommending products?

Yes and it's completely free of charge. Every office is different and a brief site survey means we can give you a genuinely useful recommendation based on your actual space rather than a generic one. It also helps avoid any surprises around sizing, power routing or ceiling height before anything is ordered. Get in touch to arrange yours.

Can you provide acoustic measurement data or test reports for our building manager or landlord?

Yes. Full specification sheets, ISO test data and fire safety certifications are all available on request. If your building manager, landlord or facilities team needs documentation before installation can go ahead, we can provide everything required to make that process as straightforward as possible.

Do you work with interior designers, architects, or workplace consultants?

Yes, we work regularly with designers, architects and workplace consultants on commercial fit-out projects of all sizes. If you're specifying on behalf of a client or working on a larger scheme, get in touch with our team directly to discuss how we can support your project.
